im sure that rad, an oil cooler, does not make alot of difference, does it, or is it just because its so cold ????

Your stat should hold the temperature at 82c but if your cooling system is good then it can run cooler. Its been very cold yesterday and today so will run cooler anyways. Im running a 89c stat in mine to give the heater abit more nuts in this cold weather :)

Replace the o ring on the bleed nipple also. Get a kelloggs box over the radiator :D
