I am currently thinking about starting a new project using a 2.0 or 2.3L Volvo B230FT engine that is found in the Volvo 740's to put into a different vehicle. Since the engine and gearbox is a RWD setup I was wondering if anyone knew of any cars that would take this arrangement with minimal fuss and stress, obviously I know any engine conversion will be a challenge but if I can make the whole operation as smooth as possible that would be beneficial to me. I am looking for a street sleeper type car and it has to be fairly cheap as this will be on a tight budget and on the side of other things that I do. I am hoping to obtain 300 - 350 BHP from this project so something lightweight is also desirable but with a strong chassis and brakes to keep things in place.

Any ideas is much appreciated.

350hp might be a challange, have a read of the turbobricks.com forum, everything you need to know about that engine is right there.

I got some information from an issue of PPC magazine on the Volvo engines, as long as I can get nigh on 300 BHP from this engine for peanuts then I will be happy, otherwise the 16v versions are the way to go for big power without con rods breaking etc... I just need some ideas on suitable cars to stick this engine into.

I thought Scirocco's were FWD  A Manta would be cool, but very rare nowadays :(
