Battery Charge Issue

Hi,

I have fitted a new alternator and am agetting 14V output from this so am pretty sure this is working OK. I am however only getting 12.2 at the battery and this does not seem to be charging. This is a track car only so only does 15-20 min stints. I am thinking this may be an electrical issue but i don't know where to start so any advice would be very much appreciated.

you have 14v across the alternator live and earth posts

you have 12.2v across the battery terminals

Is the alternator big red wire that runs to the starter motor connected? the battery positive goes to the starter motor post and the alternator live connects on the starter aswell
