View Full Version : Bonnet situation
So I've been told of numerous people that the bonnet isn't going to shut when a 172 engine is in place, I know there are a couple of people on here with this conversion done and I wondered if anyone had any suggestions or clever remedies to this problem other than chopping up a good bonnet.

Yeah the inlet manifold gets in the way.:crap: some have cut out the bracing of the bonnet and others have used a different/bespoke inlet. Last option is to go for a fibreglass 16v type bonnet if you can find one or modify the bonnet to accept a similar bulge for clearance.
I have a fibreglass valver vented bonnet for sale

Sorry its so late, havent checked up on this in a while Mo, the conversion is currently at a standstill unfortunately. Motorsport season has kicked off in a big way and im finding myself with plenty of work on weekends (somehow got asked to go to Spa the weekend just gone, very lucky) as well as working full time so i havent had the time or funds really to make real headway on it. When i get saving it will all come together im sure. Staying optimistic haha

Again sorry about the late reply, and the bonnet does seem like a good solution, i would take it off your hands however the need for cams is the most urgent im afraid.
thats ok fella, I would hang on to it for you but I need the cash :/ got a few peeps hoping you weren't going to buy it
