clutch self adjusting mechanism problem maybe? help?

Hey, so my clutch was getting lower to the bite was hard even when right home on the carpet. I adjusted the length myself on the self adjusting mechanism witch fixed the issue but over a week it keeps going back to the floor. Any one have any idea on what could be broken? I do have a soft clutch longer arm on the car but dont feel it is this.

Did you release the self adjusting mechanise so that the teeth ARE NOT normally engaged?

Ideally, they engage ONLY when the pedal is pressed down (to release the clutch).

Hello thanks for the reply sorry been busy, how I done it was press pedal down hold slack from inside the bonnet release the pedal slowly it clicks and moves up the notches this seems to be fine for a few days and then it is back close as hell to the floor again?
any better way to do it? It good cable but just not holding where I set it for very long.

The part of the clutch pedal that the cable goes over to where it's end joins; that's all supposed to move freely when the pedal is fully up.

As the pedal is pressed, only then do the teeth engage. That's how that mechanism self adjusts; as the clutch wears, the teeth on the pedal engage with teeth a bit further on the moving part, then release again when the pedal is up.

If that is not moving, ie, jammed, stuck, then there may be the problem.
