hi all,

basically as the title says - i have a ktr180 turbo - ktec d/capacity intercooler - uprated carb bottom - new head and all the gaskets, the car runs fine just cant wind up the boost - i can get 20psi in 1st/2nd/3rd ok - then it starts pinking when flat out 4th/5th - does the car just need setting up - rolling road? what are bbpt like as they are an hour from me???

please help

Have you got a wideband kit on your car mate? If not get one. If you have not done so already then yes get it set up correctly on a RR.

With a ktec180 20psi is really pushing the limit of the turbo, you might want to turn that down a bit.

are you running a standard carburettor?

Re-read the first post and you'll see that it's running an "uprated carb bottom". You mean you don't know what one of those is Sparks?

Something to do with stronger gaskets?

Ah yes, I think i've heard of people running wooden carb gaskets before. Maybe it's one of those :scared:

Matt, I think they're made by Coat Hanger Performance, available from your local dry-cleaners.

I'd personally set it up yourself or get someone on here to do it as you'll prob end up with a heavily over-fueling carb if you went there.

As Rob says that turbo you got is working way to hard to produce that sort of psi, ideally you'll need a T25 from end on there and then you might be able to start running 20psi without dettination, a good set up on the carb and then you'll be fine.

Have a look over the engine bay too as something as simple as a split vacum hose could be the cause of the detting too.

I've seen someone screw the enricher sections onto the carburettor back to front before now too. could also be low fuel pressure to the carb due to pump, filter, regulator and so on.

could be a wire swop on the tdc lead
