After cracking 6 collets, 3 inlet valves with collet grooves wider than the grand canyon and a piston number 4 sitting over 1mm lower than the rest..... ive finally given up abusing c1j's

If anyone has a F7P thats forged or skimmed pistons with a turbo manifold let me know :agree:

Sorry to hear of the devastation..... But looking forward to seeing another 16v build..
:wasntme:

If you are splitting up your remaining c1j bits I would be interested in the mappable ignition

Depends on costs of cylinder head repairs atm

I dont want to refit standard valves as ive got a big valve set here ready to go and titanium retainers etc.

but new guides and machining will cost probably the same as the price of a complete F7R engine

Torn between both choices atm :(

Jeez, how did you manage that mate ?

I was originally suspecting rev limiter and -5 degree ignition retard abuse

Now I've found a conrod issue,
I'm more led to believe this all stems from 1 run down santa pod where i was racing my brother 197 for the second time after beating him earlier in the day.

The trigger wheel came loose on a flatshit between 3rd into 4th and then I coasted popping and banging off the track.

After that incident the engine never felt right to me, yet compressions all the same on all 4 cylinders tho and no det marks at all on the pistons that ive found not even on the edges of the pistons.

Have to hammer out inlet valves as the collet grooves have spurred out wasn't my happiest moment

Sounds like it has taken some serious abuse though.

Have you done a few C1Js before ?

I'm still on my first engine but always a little paranoid about pushing it too far. I thought generally speaking C1Js were reasonably strong.

The throttle is only ever on or off in my car :wasntme:

Yeah building engines is easy on these, This one was built 4 years ago to the day and it even had a red seal head gasket on it
