Hi all,

I am soon to take the standard engine out of my Ph2 for a bit of a tidy up in the bay etc...

Whist the engine is out I am in two minds weather to do a few upgrades. :) Nothing too crazy, but just as a starter and then take it from there.

So I am thinking 285 Piper cam kit?

Where is the best place to get one from?

The Carb is also going to get a service and set up to. Of course got the service kit from the rtoc shop:agree:

AFR is already to go along with the downpipe.

What else would you recommend doing whilst the engine is out without going over board?

Many thanks Dan

I bought mine direct from Piper but that was a while ago.

It would be worth taking the gearbox off and checking the clutch for wear. Also check all pipe work and hoses and replace any awkward ones. Maybe give the engine and engine bay a clean up :)

Thanks Alex,:agree:

Should also have said I,ve already replaced pistons, liners with tarabusi ones, clutch has also been done, new valve steams too, red samco hoses all round. Have some more to add whilst the engine is out too.

I'll take a look at the Piper site.:)

I would only go 285 cam if your going big turbo
If you want response then I would go Piper 270 cam with a moderate size turbo, T2/T25 something like that

I have even used a 270 with a large turbo, works very well too

Thanks Mark,:agree:

can I still go with a 285 cam and then upgrade the turbo at a later date?

You can but decide what turbo you want first before buying the cam, try suit them to each other

Ok cool :agree:

Thinking about a T28, just need some ideas before I go ahead really.

T28 is good for outright power, you after big power or more response?

Not mas power really Mark, just options really which I can build on.

Thanks :agree:

A T25 is usually a good compromise between outright power and driveability on the road. :)
