I stumbled accross these hinge covers in dre5gtt project thread (stunning 5 by the way)
http://www.rtoc.org/boards/showpost.php?p=345149&postcount=7

Ive been hunting around the forum and found them in the dialogys, trouble is, it lists 3 different colour codes.
Could someone tell me what these codes refer to, please?
http://www.rtoc.org/boards/showthread.php?t=40528

Further to this, has anyone got any current info on them please, availability & price etc.

Why were some of these little trim bits, such as the boot & inner rear wheel arch trim, on some cars and not others?

Thanks in advance. :agree:

No longer available I believe. Also not fitted to the GT Turbo as standard.

Leigh, I've found some overseas. They're bloody expensive. Would you like the link?

Thanks for the info guys.

If they're expensive, theyll more than likely drop off the bottom of my priorities list

I used to love buying cheap bits of 80s plastic to freshen up my 5 but it seems i have been priced out of the market these days.

I've been laughing at some of the daft prices people are asking for things recently so i'm intrigued to know just how daft the price is on these

Does the same go for the full length boot/rear wiper trim cover and the inner rear wheel arch inserts with courtesy light?

The full length trim is NLA. And the rear arch inserts too, yes.

I'll PM you the link.

Sorry Matt, I meant were the boot trims not originally on the turbo?

Oh I see! Ha!

No, the other times for rear hatch and rear inner arch were on the later GT Turbos. Full Ph2 with cloth door trims. Not so sure on the early Ph2 cars.

Oh right......
It's a strange one because I got my rear inner arch trims from a phase 1.

There's no telling what's been there from new, removed or added at a later date!

I remember seeing a thread listing the differences between phase 1 and 2, maybe that has some more info.

I found it after I'd posted but thanks anyway.

It mentions the boot cubby hole covers with light but nothing about the full length boot trim and seat hinge covers. I guess they were items that appeared on models other than the turbo.

Strangely enough my phase 1.5/2 didn't have the cubby hole covers but I managed to pick some up out of a phase 1.

A late Campus has the same trims as an early Ph1 GTT. Some 1.5s were mix and match.

These were fitted as standard on Monaco etc weren't they? Though I think the hinges are a little unsightly I really don't like the look with the covers.

Hi Leigh,

The full length boot trim in ph2 vs the Campus style square one in Phase 1 (and possibly Ph1.5): I could have sworn it was in there, it's a well known one. I'll update the article (now done).

The hinge covers were never fitted to the GTT. :agree:

I think they made it up as they went along to be honest, or more likely what parts they had available at the time. Mines a 1989 so I would class it firmly in the Phase 2 camp rather than a 1.5, however mine has the small square wiper cover rather than the full length one.

Does it have the cloth door cards?

6/89 was a changeover date aswell.

Hi Mark.

1989 date of registration or year of manufacture?

Certainly, pearl white R5's with Ph2 bodykit always fall into the Ph1.5 category, with bits of this but not bits of that. You're right, Renault did make it up as they went along during that time :agree:

The article can only really refer to what is Ph1 and Ph2, the grey area in between will always throw up a few curve balls :)

Cheers for the info guys :coffee:

Pretty sure mine must be an 'inbetweener', registered Nov '88.

Makes me wonder if modern cars have random bits changed/moved/ditched altogether?

:agree:

I'm sure the manufacturers still find ways to run down their parts bins as they implement updates/face-lifts to their models (which is effectively all this is).
