Have you tried taking the rear clusters out and cleaning the contacts?
They're usually corroded so a little wire bush normally solves it.

Mine used to do a similar thing. Brake lights flashing when indicating and all sorts.

Sounds like corroded contacts or a bad earth for the rear lights that needs cleaning up... ;)

That looks like an earth issue somewhere. The negative path to the side light circuit is false feeding the indictaor and using the earth of that circuit.

I think there is a relay for that don't quote me tho.... U not got a Haynes manual?? Would make a good investment... I'm sure in the back in the wiring diagrams it shows the relays  I think

Engine earths (if they are of any use):

Water pump to bulkhead
Front engine loom to block (just below oil sensors)
Gearbox to suspenson leg
Battery to bulkhead

alternator + connection?

There will be x2 earth on your flasher relay. one will go to a main earthing point and the other is the earth for the hazard switch. check those.

(clutching straws here and this one is very doubtful as the clocks are ok) but on the back of your clocks on the far left hand plug as you are looking at it from the drivers seat check that, give it a wiggle as there is an earth there.

Check the connections on your light stalk. perhaps unplug the connections from it and see if the car still cuts out.

Had similar with my monaco clocks same far left connector. Was on but not connected properly. The left brake light didnt work and mine had a fog light permantly illuminated in the dash but not outside. Hope its something simple, wiring can be a pain.

Yes, that plug is a massive pain in the bum. well, its not actually the plug but it is the connections the plug attaches to. If it is that a good clean of the contacts and some brute force should see you right.
