New poster! (less than 10 posts)

Hey there.
This is my 5 gt that I'm in the process of returning it back to its original glory. It's roadworthy and moted. Outside I just need to find some original wheels and then sort the interior out and then have it re sprayed and decals put on. Can any eagle eyed members see what else that needs doing to make it original 😄 and is there any previous owners of the car on here. As I had no history with the car as the guy I brought it off had split up with his wife and she wouldn't let him back in the house lol she also chucked the keys away too ..Ouch ..

Looks like a good base if the sills/jacking points etc are good.

Along with the wheels and decals you mentioned, the exterior would also need (if you wanted to go totally OE):

Unpainted wing mirror bases
Tow eye cover
Standard height front suspension
Rear wiper
Standard exhaust
Check for the little 1" plastic cover that sits in the middle of the windscreen seal
Check for the little end caps on the plastic roof line covers
Looks like there's a problem with the badge on the tailgate

Looking good!

I mentioned the wing mirror bases and front suspension as being non-OE but tbh, I think both look just right as they are :agree:

Decals would go very well though! :)

So.front Seats are in ok condition but have a few rips and tears ( the back seats are perfect ) and red carpet has seen better days and has being cut behind passenger seat by previous owner .. Dunno why ...the door cards have been cut and cut and cut to fit bigger speakers in so now left with big holes lol .but because I'm trying to go as OE as possible. What would you go for ? Does it matter if inside is not as OE as the outside ?? Or sought out another interior.?? Or change it and get seats + doorcards upholstered in a new material and a new carpet ?? HELPPPPPP

Red fleck front seats can be sourced if you look around, most require a bit of repair work with new bolsters as long as fabric is not full of holes. Carpets are still available second hard usually need a good clean with a pressure washer, door cards can be re-trimmed, or buya good second hand set. Unfortunately price of interiors like rest of the parts has really taken off recently.

Hey guys.
I thought I would give her a wash before I hid her away for the winter. But when I opened the door there was a lot of water in the doors (both sides) so I presume outta window seals have gone 😩 Can you buy these still or is it second hand only. ?
I'm also looking for :
Red carpet
2 door cards only. ( I got the plastic bits)

Check the rear quater windows arer sealing properly, water can leak in here and run into the front footwell. Mike at GT Turbo Spares is your man for parts or Bob at CGB. Also....... check out the club shop for any other parts ;)

Outer (door) window seals have been available from Renault.
I bought my replacements earlier this year.

So strippng it down for the respray and it's looking not to bad at the moment

so far so good

Doesn't look too bad that mate. Good base to work from:)

Can't you get door cards recovered a little closer than Russia? :D

I wanted to ..but a few company's wanted £300 for just the front doorcards £200 for back ones and £100 per front seat and £300 for back seat all in cloth. But the garage /mate who is doing the respray found a company in Russia where he is from and charging me all in £600 + £50 postage and they will be all in high quality leather :)

After having a good look around the car the weekend and chatting to my mate he has said that we have got the change the dreaded jacking points on both sides AND inner and outer sills both sides and arches cut and repaired 😱
Just looking at the extortionate prices now for sills (£129) and jacking points (£290) on eBay 😣🔫

James5

The prices over here for part's are stupidly high, I am also after a pair of front jacking point's and possibly inner sill's, let me know how you search goes:agree:

Mr Raider

Front jacking point panels were around £100 a pair delivered off ebay, I remember paying about that amount for a pair in 2012 from my local main Renault dealer. I believe Ash makes up inner sill repair panels for the 5. :)

Which Ash?

Matt Cole

If that's Ashy, he hasn't posted on here in 6 months. I doubt he has any inner sills left. Worth a try though:-

Hey guys. My 5 is nearly finished at lonnnnnngggggg last.
I will upload pictures soon on the stages of the work done to it
all the engine gaskets have been changed and welding and respray have been completed .. it's just the matter of piecing it back together now

Can you still buy the black plastic seal that goes between the body and the body kit.
the one that runs over the arches and down the body on both sides.
Mine was damaged on removal of the body kit

Looking forward to seeing the work 😃

The seal between the skirt and body is nla but pop up occasionally for sale - be prepared to pay a premium for them though.. I have seen them priced over 150 a side.

An alternative is to use a upvc window seal. Huge variety of sizes to choose from. You would need to have your originals to measure size required.
There was a discussion a while back about them being used.
I have a link saved in my eBay of a set but I have read it being a little bigger than std and required trimming. With this in mind I would try to get a better size.

Here it is anyway.
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/331113212395

The seals under the arches are different to the skirt seal. No idea if Renault still stock them but I would bet some have a decent set stashed away so would be worth putting up a wanted add.

Rediculous ... I understand that rarity comes into play but for what it is......:sad2:

There is absolutley no way I could justify that. With suitable alternatives available at 5% of the cost who in their right mind would fork out for these

Funny how when I had one of these advertised on ebay a few weeks back for £90 the seller of the one in the link messaged me to say he wanted it but it was way too expensive. Granted £90 is not cheap for a piece of rubber trim but it's a damn sight cheaper than £180 !.
