The radiator on my project 5gtt needs replacing I've phoned the motor factors we use at work but they keep sending ones without the oil cooler in it, where's best to get one ? I've been looking at the ones from winner racing on eBay but I wasn't sure how I would attach a fan to it or the quality what have you guys done ? Any advice ?
Cheers

Can you not have yours re-cored? It'll be like new then.

Why would it be hot all the time if it's re-cored?

I wasn't sure it would be that's what I mean would having a new core keep it cooler than before? I know they are always hot but obviously I wanted to stop it being to hot

GTT's with a properly maintained standard cooling system do not run hot or overheat.

If yours is over-heating, i.e. the temp needle is going beyond and staying beyond the third line on the gauge despite the fan kicking in, then you have a problem. Otherwise, it's fine. Once warmed up, the car should operate between lines 2 and 3 on the gauge.

If you do have a problem though, then you need to find out what it is first. It probably is your radiator but that's not guaranteed. It could be a sticking thermostat, a broken fan motor, a faulty fan switch, an air-lock, a knackered water pump or low coolant levels.

If you are sure you have a radiator problem that's causing the car to run hot, then yes, getting a re-core will absolutely solve it.

So, describe exactly what you're experiencing and what you've tried so far and maybe we can help pin-point what the issue is.

Ok, so the answer to your original question of whether the a new core, will keep it cooler than before is this: assuming everything else is in working order, the new core (or replacement rad in good condition), will ensure the car runs at the temperature it's supposed to.
