Starter motor not engaging

Anyone had a issue where it sounds like it's grinding, as if the the starters not engaging?

I'm using a 172 clutch flywheel and starter

exactly alex i had it before with no dowel and it grinded like hell

Kial messaged me on whatsapp yesterday and he confirmed the locating dowel was in place on the gearbox side, he is using 172 flywheel on the F7p engine and 172 starter. He did send me a small video but it was only a few sec's long i couldn't make out much, hopefully he will link it to this thread
