has anyone got a fix for slow/sticky door solenoids ??? Have seen that Clio mk 1 97/98 will fit, also seen some new ones on flea bay that will fit (apparently).. has anyone tried these ???
may just try and free up with some silicone spray first..
Cheers...

I just wrote a long reply to your other post but your thread moved and it was lost.
soak the mechanism in derv clean it , get gunk out.
If you soak rubber in derv it may go funny so bare that in mind.
I cut a small slit in the rubber bellows and sprayed wd40 in.
Try to use them frequently I find they stick if left unused for a while.

Good advice Junglist, remove the solenoid itself in rubber cover from the door latch/mechanism and soak in diesel overnight. :)

No worries m8 , I soaked mine then fitted them back on, they worked for 20 mins then went again but after another soak and clean they have been fine ever since.
You will be able to get a small screwdriver in and scrape out most of the crap.
Clarkey, if you do this, will you take some pics and post up for us to see? There haven't been many threads on this issue over the years that have provided that much info for other members. :agree:

I did notice earlier that when the engine is not running the lock struggles to lock, but when the engine is running it seems to work OK.... Maybe the voltage is not quite enough to operate just off the battery..... Will try to get out and free up as in previous posts, also clean up terminals as volt drop may also be an issue....

Good thread as I need to take a look at my drivers side one. The passengers side door solonoid works a treat but the drivers side one, whilst it makes a noise, doesnt seem to want to lock. Im guessing its just full of crap from years of use.

Had a go at the door locks today... I removed the door card as per Haynes manual and removed the lock mechanism eventually, its quite difficult as you can't really see what you need to do to release it, I found that if you undo the screw holding the mech to the door it gives you a little bit more room to move it enough to see how the clips come off for the internal door release, exterior lock etc.
I then used some degreaser (Gunk) with the straw off the WD40 can so I could get right in there, also some tweezers to get the stubborn bits of crap out. Then cleaned up with some kitchen roll and some cotton buds... I then pulled the rubber boot out from the solenoid/motor and squirted a little silicone spray in to it, then worked the whole mech for a couple of minutes get it all moving.
Reinstalled as per removal and reconnected the solenoid plug, tried the lock with the key first then the door lock button on centre console then the remote for the alarm, works perfectly, so much better and more positive locking....
Have tried to attach photos but been unsuccessful so far...

Great news :agree:
Nicely done :)
Are your photos on a desktop machine? If so upload them to your album and then just link them in this thread using the mountain icon button in the menu.

Tried again, tried photo bucket as well, still no joy, file error apparently😕😕😕😕😕
This would make a good article :agree:
It would.
Clarkey, tell us exactly where your pics are at the moment (phone or PC?), and what you're doing in trying to get them uploaded here. Let's see if we can work out where you're getting stuck.
