As long as you deem the car road legal... ie: 4 decent tyre's, head lights etc...
& that the car is insured not just you insured to drive any other car 3rd party...
Oh and you must be booked into a Mot Garage for an apointment... but afterwards you can drive the car home and to and from any garage/place to work on your car...
So technically you could drive your car anywhere to get "work" done on your car... but only after it has failed an MOT.
Well it's not insured so thats buggered that

You plonker. What do you think would happen if you hit someone? "Sorry mate, dont have insurance, but its okay - im booked in for an MOT"
Why would I insure a car thats been in the garage for over a year? To drive it on the road...... But surley the fact a car has no MOT and is not road legal invalidates any insurance anyway. The MOT station is about 1 minute from my house. Thats it, I'm calling the police:confused:

tow it:cool:
Just got off the phone. I cannot drive the car to the MOT station
Due to the MOT running out over a year ago I will not be able to get insurance (as my last post) so the nice police lady said not in so many words "you drive it and we'll have ya". It has to be trailered or on a flat bed.. "not even towed". Hmmm. Is it worth doing??? Gives me something to think about. :wasntme: And something to remember in the future..
tow it:cool:
Then you might as well drive it as its the same legal issues. Only way is to trailor it then
tow it:cool:
Push it
so ya cant tow a non tax/mot'd car then....
She told me if it touches the road it is classed as on the road and is a no no. Any car that is on the road for any amount of time must be insured. No MOT for a year.No Insurance. Just No...You may be ok to insure a car that has only just expired on the MOT. I wouldn't like to say mate.

I know a guy with a flat bed but its a lot of hassle for a 1 minute journey. I suppose I'll have to do it. There isn't any other way. :crap:

Why is it bad if it hasn't been MOT'd for over a year? My car was rotting in a barn for 2 years but I still drove it to and from the MOT shop and welders in another town, even with coppers following!
The garage said it was fine to do so

The thing with nowadays is everything is computerised, police know whether your car has mot insurance tax, when it expired and everything about you at the touch of a few buttons.
I know if you were driving it round my way and you was stopped and showing you had no insurance, immediately recovery would be arranged for your car for having no insurance, then you'd get a bill for the recovery and have to pay the storage fees until you went down there with a flat bed and your docs to get it back, you'd also be charged for driving a car with no insurance and risk a ban on your license.
So the bottom line is its not worth the risk nowadays, get it trailered to the mot station................
