starter motor

was just looking to buy a new starter motor for my 5 and there is 2 options
1 is 1.2kw and the other is 0.85kw was just wondering which is best to go for thanks lee

Where are you buying them from? I bought an RTX unit from Euro Car Parts for mine last year, heard some negative comments about them so swapped it for a Lucas/Bosch one and paid the extra money, RTX wasnt exchange/surcharge however Lucas/Bosch one was.

The original Valeo ones do last really well, still avilable from mister auto I believe so worth getting a good quality replacement starter and do the job once. ;)

There was an 'uprated' starter with more cranking power, make sure it has the right amount of teeth etc. Some new old stock ones kicking around ebay too, aswell as used ones. The Lucas/Bosch from Euro Car Parts is good quality however around £80 with exchange fella.
