how do you do a compression test ?
Take out all spark plugs. screw compression gauge in spark plug hole. Crank engine over for afew seconds which should give you a reading on the gauge, record reading, Note: If you don't know how to kill the spark try not to electrocute yourself or your mate when cranking. repeat for the 3 other cylinders. remember to depressor buttom on gauge to reset it each time. Figures in the region of 120 - 140 psi is about right. somebody will know better.

take spark plug out screw in the tester into its place open the throttle whilst cranking and take the reading. repeat the process on all cylinderss.
buy a compression tester
take the king lead off the dizzy cap.
take all spark plugs out
screw the comp tester into one of the plug holes
crank the engine over about 3/4 times
note the reading on the comp tester.
redo this for the rest of the cylinders.

when you crank the engine, ensure the throttle postion is open
last time the king lead shoked me my filling fell out:crap:

remove plugs, remove coil lead from distr.cap and place near a good earth/return/chassis/engine,fit comp.tester into plughole and crank engine with throttle open until guage doesn't read any higher, than repeat for the next cyl's.for a good prognosis do test cold and then at a later stage do it hot.take note of how high the needle on guage jumps with the first pulse and take note of the readings.cold should be more than 9 bar and hot should be more than 9.5bar:)
