View Full Version : Hesitation at 3.5k Rpm & Turning?

Hey Chaps,

I recently had a crack in the body of my carburettor so a fellow RTOC member had kindly given me a body. I have then since taken all jets, all attachments etc from my carb over to this body (as it was missing its main, the mixture screw etc) and rebuild two rough carbs into one okay one.

I also used the top of the carb supplied as it had decent mounts for the lobster (mine had cracked) but I have taken the float again and all bits over from my old carb to this.

The car now however hesitates on initial acceleration for half a second, likes its bogged down and once you get past this and get going however it also starts misfiring at about 3.5k rpm and it wont get over this. (You can however rev it over this barrier if the car is standing still).

It also seems to loose power if you start to corner with your foot down? Starts hesitating again.

Any thoughts? Help would be much appreciated.

Luke

My carb used to do this, total strip and clean with a new carb kit and now it's ok.

Initial hesitation is a blocked accelerator jet. Have a boards search, there are tons of threads on this particular. :agree:

I agree with the above, strip, clean, clean, clean......clean, rebuild.

Thank you for all of the replies however the carb has been cleaned and had a service kit at the same time, the accelerator jet also works as when you take the lobster off and pump the pedal you can see the fuel get squirted down the into the intake.

Proper stumped :s
