Splitting the gearbox

Hi

I'm looking at fitting my spare gearbox as the current one has exploded.:cry:

I want to give it a visual inspection. Ive removed all the casing bolts and the casing has parted a fraction but i cant get it to split any further?:confused::scratch:

Any advice or am i best just to take it to the experts? I wish i didnt split the seal not and just fitted it but I assume i will need to re seal it now anyway?
