Right then chaps, like a number of other peeps on here I'm using a non standard gearbox in my 5 but wanted to retain the standard speedo, so after some measuring and tweaks of the design I came up with this.

The prototype I had laser cut but required some adjustment on the lathe, a bit of testing it works perfectly once I'd made a spacer to mount the standard sensor using a valver hub (although a different bracket could be fashioned for a GTT hub), the only thing you need is a valver outer CV joint.

Now it's all working I've had the CAD drawing adjusted and some rings made up for those that want them.

Wow, really clever solution, wonder who came up with that :cooter:

Oli, im needing one if these!:) thing is im using gt hubs and outer cv's:crap: can it be modified to fit the gt cv at all?

Neat work, that. I will be in the market for one of these :-)

£10 each plus postage

Well yeah I know, but I took you're idea and changed it abit, wouldn't of thought of it had you not got yours working first

You could try but I don't don't know if you can machine enough off the cv to give a suitable level for it to sit on

I have 3 in stock

Will the 16v cv fit the gt hub? If so are the shafts hollow like the gt?

Yeah the valver shafts will slot straight in, you could just take cv joint off the valver shaft and fit it to a GTT shaft

I had the same idea mate, it was just that we where able to make it the pickey way on the same day so just did that :)

Ah good stuff. Might just do that. So how does the ring fit to the cv joint?

The standard valver cv joint has an abs ring, just pop that off and pop this speedo ring in it's place, I put abit of glue on mine just to be doubly sure, but then I am a paranoid f**ker lol

Cheers Oli. Can I please take one? I will try and get a 16V CV joint etc and bang the ring on.:D

if it fits on the jc5 box wiv standard shafts we will take 1 oz, do you use the standard 5 pickup?? also would we need to make a bracket for the pickup thx mick

This fits on the hub end of the drive shaft so it'll work with any gearbox you use, as mentioned before you'll need a valver outer cv joint and you will need to make a bracket to hold the factory GTT speedo sensor onto the hub.

Good stuff that! cheap and simple solution too :agree::agree:

Thought I would re-open this thread as I have just fitted one of these to my passenger shaft and am using a STD GTT hub so was really wanting to see what sort of bracket people have made and where have they mounted them from also clearance bag between the sensor and the ring required?

I've welded mine to a std gtt driveshaft. Yet to make a bracket for the sensor

OK I've kind of cheated and done it the easy way and gone and bought valver abs hub's and using a valver abs driveshaft's (fit with no issue's), just knocked the ABS sensor ring off and fitted this 12 point ring, just awaiting valver hubs to arrive then I think all I will need to do is make a spacer for the very long GTT Speedo sensor. Ill get some pic's up when I do it

Is there not enough room on the drivers side inner cv for these be mount on? Sure it means a redesign might be needed tho but would be easier to wire, mount a sensor

Honestly didn't see if it would fit the drivers side shaft, as I am planning to fit the valver OS shaft that side also in a hope to use the std valver ring to give me a speed signal for the ECU if possible. Ill check if the original valver abs ring I removed fits the inner OS shaft

I disappear of the forum for 6 months and my old threads all come back to life lol

Anyway, for those that want more details, I used the valver abs hub and offside outer cv for mine ignition ally but after the driveshaft made a bid for freedom I had the replace it with a pattern shaft which the valver cv didn't fit so the outer cv was chucked on a lathe and only required a small amount removed to fit the speedo ring and 3 little spots of weld to stop it shifting.

i have also replace the speedo cable as the oe item was shot, Renault still produce these but they have redesigned them slightly, there now a one piece item, aka no more connector of death :) they are long enough to reach the drivers side hub with easy if u rerouted the wiring. I did try and route it to the passenger side but without extending it, it wouldn't reach.

i did think about having one of these made to fit the inner cv on the drivers side but for me there was a big turbo far too close for it to be safe, with a little redesign, namely increase the centre bore they could be made to fit the inner cv.

im going to be making a prototype sensor mount for those that don't have the valver abs hubs, just need someone local to be a test mule.

i will bring a few of these rings to frog of the pod/retro show if people want them, I'll be around somewhere (probably under the car fixing something lol).
