First post!
Hi Everyone,
I'm pleased to say I'm now a paid up member to the club. I'm looking forward to working my way through the site and getting in touch at some events.
I was born in 1980 and the Renault 5 GT Turbo was the car of choice when I got my licence at 17 (and I wanted a bass tube etc. etc.!) Unfortunately usual financial and insurance woes left me with a rather more mundane car.
As part of an early mid life crisis I'd like to get a R5 GT Phase 2 as a second car. I'm looking for a 'stock' car in white and will be spending around £5k and am prepared to wait to find the right car.
I'm no stranger to big servicing bills (have owned Porsche, Mercedes etc. and had main dealer costs) so I don't mind running costs and regular maintenance *but* my question before buying is really the parts availability and specialist servicing for keeping a GT Turbo on the road. I live in Central London and wondered if it's relatively easy to find a place that will service and maintain the car to keep it in tip top condition? I've heard that parts are difficult to come across so does this get really specialist and end up having to be a DIY job?
Any advice appreciated, excuses if this is a basic question!
Thanks,
Matt
