need some help getting my car started

good evening, need some help or advice on what to try
since rebuilding the car it hasn't been started
did have the car turning over, and was getting a spark to the plugs but
left it for the last 2 month and when i went to try and turn it over today i got nothing, not even a click from the starter, have 12v at the starter and it's getting 12v to the little wire on the starter
just i don't know what to try first, any help please

Check your earths dude. You could use a jump lead to make an earth too just incase

You say your getting 12v to the starter but the starters not doing anything? Have you tried hitting it with a hammer. Ive got through several starters on my 5, it seems to be down to their location right near the exhaust.

I used to use a long chisel and from the top to tap the starter solenoid and that sorted things for a while but eventually a new starter was in order.

i hope it's not the starter as it's only about 6 months old and it's had no use as the car hasn't been started only turned over a few time.

i did try the tapping/ hitting but still no joy, will try attaching an earth cable to one of the fixing screws in the hope that i have a bad earth

Can you smell burning around the starter?

And you know the battery is fully charged?

The car was on a battery booster when i was trying to start
