The Megane engine use's a 6-speed gearbox which i think doesn't quite squeeze in between the chassis legs, most go for an F4R engine and turbo that as your able to bolt a normal JB/JC gearbox onto it

Most of the time getting the engine in is the easy bit, connecting it up and getting it wqork is the hard bit

I thought it might be easyer as its already turboed so I aint gotta mess around changing pistons / or having the tops off stock ones ?
will the clio box fit ? jb5 or jb3

Have a read of the link I posted, you need to modify the block for the gearbox to match up

If it uses the 6-speed box no a JB/JC box won't fit as its not the same bolt pattern
The woring will be the worse bit if using standard stuff

The stock f4rt turbo and manifold wont fit on a right hand drive car due to the position of the brake servo. The box is massive too and will require custom shafts or redrilling the block to fit a jb/jc box.

A better option is to do a low pressure f7p or 172 turbo conversion, will cost the same

so if I get say an engine from a clio 1.8 16v / 19 16v get a turbo plus manifold is that all is required ? and whats the most boost I can run on a stock engine ? will the ecu need modding ect ?

You need a standalone ecu ideally or a chipped stock ecu

And a lot more than just the engine and turbo...

Look in the f7 conversion subforum and you'll find plenty of info

there seems a lot of info and many opinions im not looking for anything over the top or fancy just a basic engine swap turboed just simple and easy conversion to give me a reliable 250 bhp what lump and box is best to go for ?

The problem is it's not that simple...

F7r/p engine, skimmed pistons, injectors, fuel pump, clutch, turbo, downpipe, intercooler, management, manifold, etc.

is there a list of stuff on here that's required I don't want all the fancy bits just a nice and easy cheap as conversion to start me off for now just the basics the rest can come later if needed

Basically the list i just typed has nothing to do with fany bits, just necessity

The search function on RTOC isn't the best but it's not that bad either.

I currently have a set of standard positions which have been machined down for lower compression for an f7p lump.
