View Full Version : C1J Engine Problem
Need advice from the RTOC with ref to a friends C1J engine GTT that has broken down tonight.
The symptons are as follows, the little R5 GTT sounds like it running is on three cylinders but on 1 of the engine strokes whilst it is running @ idle there is a clonk that causes the engine to vibrate ?(Quiet alot) The clonk sounds like it is coming from the bottom end. There is no loss of coolant and no mayo and all 4 sparks have good spark and are in the correct firing order 1342 the fault developed whilst the car was being driven there is also no leaks under the car. Any ideas?:sos:
was it being driven hard ? melted or holed piston maybe ? he needs to do a compression test ;)
sounds like hes dropped a bearing, did the problem develop after giving it a good blat.?
Will do the compression test and go from there.

bent pushrod?
:agree:
I did think bent push rod but it's not the same sound as when a push rod bends will check it still though.
Cheers for the advice though
if its not the pushrod, then take the plug out and start the car. if the clunk goes away, then suspect the big end bearing.
Turned out to be a snapped push rod and a bent push rod

Thanks rob ill have a check befor fitting the new rods and starting it up againg
Maybe if you were on boost & the pipe came off, the sudden loss of power slowed the engine to fast & bent the rods , is that possible guys ???
