Carb servicing

Please correct me if I'm acting daft but I've just bought the carb service kit from the club shop.
I fud a search on it but couldn't find what in looking for.
Just really looking to find out any hints and tips from personal experience.
I do have the overhaul guide to hand but just other folks opinions on going the job ;)
