Any Londoners with local knowledge about?

Basically I'm going to be in Westminster on Friday evening & have to drive back up north.

The satnav is sugesting we go through the expensive parts of the monopoly board onto the m4 past heathrow then m25, m40. Did this route last time & it seemed to take forever.

Seems a long way round to me?

Any London cabbies on here with any better ideas?

It will be about 7.30/8 pm when we set off & will be in a Luton van.

Thanks in advance!

Welcome to London mate. Absolute shit of a drive. I'd personally train and then tube it if you're not too sure. I hate driving in London and worked around it for 14 years.

Best time for driving in/out around central is usually after 9pm I've found. Don't forget to check your not driving around congestion zone, your get a fine if do and not paid etc. :agree:

Its all down to preference:

1) Do you enjoy sitting in traffic? If yes, dive in a straight line towards the M1

If no, go towards the M4 and up the M25. Will be longer but constant driving.

Both will take about the same time unless you get a clear run! Have fun.

My old route from Westminster was:
Chelsea embankment West to the
Earls Court one way system North to the
Cromwell Road (A4 I think) West to the M25.

So many years since I did that they probably closed those roads now.

North would be up past Maida Vale, Kilburn to the A406 and the M1?? I got stuck in Kilburn high road for 5 hours once. Wouldn't try that again. West on the A40 Westway to the A406 would probably be better.
