Firstly a huge thank you to Renault UK for allowing me the pleasure of having a drive at Bedford Autodrome in one of their mini hot hatches.....

It was very very wet and slippery after a whole day of rain but undeterred we were all allowed out in Renault's newest baby......thumb's up for that.....we were using the version listed with the cup pack...uprated to 17" rims, suspension mod's...

first thing you notice is just how rev happing the little 1600cc lump is, some trick exhaust and head work and this little baby sings from 4000rpm upto its 7000rpm limit, this is shown nicely by a well placed shift light, COOL....

brakes are fantastic and even in the pouring rain you didnt feel the ABS kicking in every 2 seconds like on some hot hatches......when pushed the ESP system takes it all in hand, sorts it out and gives you loads of feedback before anything nasty happens, NO surprises made this car so much fun in the wet, even with 4 wheel and rear end drifting through 70mph corners it was upset by this and let you play...
great feedback from the steering wheel and as you straighten it up mid corner the rear let's you know if you nearing it's limit....

ESP off and it's whole new car, reminded me off the first Williams I drove.....doesnt have the punch of a 2 litre but the feel of car was spot on....
It's not aimed at the people who can afford a 197 or Megane Turbo but it's a perfect entry level car for the younger generation, they will have a 5GTT following I'm sure with a perky, quirky hot hatch thats as much fun on the road as it's at home on a trackday

so, big thumb's up from me, got the look's,got the character and most of all, IT'S A RENAULT.........
