so i am finely getting round to getting my engine out and fitting my cam. but as i will be stripping it down i will be installing a lot of new parts and overhauling the rest. have found a enigne builder close to me who can balance the bottom end for £180 +vat

now for the info i need
what is the best clutch to fit the car is pushing 180bhp now so need a clutch that will handle this and a bit more when remapped. but need the clutch for when i drop the internals off for balancing.

If your ever thinking of taking the power further after 220ft/lbs the valeo doesn't last all that long;)

From that point you are better off with the paddle plate green box cover combo:agree:

thanks phil
from the printouts of when it was being mapped it was at 170ft/lbs so not to sure how much it will improve when the cam is fitted. how is the paddle plate green box cover combo suited for driving in traffic and have you the part numbers.

Hi roy when i rebuilt mine i used a valeo green box clutch for the volvo engine ive got the same as you efi and the 285 cam in.clutch is great at slow speed and fine when hard accelerating. Mines making 195bhp at 22psi and 180ft/lb ish got the cam dialed in with a bit of advance by 2degrees. Pulls really well and has a good power band.if you need a hand i can pop over to help.

The paddle plates are ok in traffic as long as the flywheel is faced, however they don't like much slipping and prefer in or out other wise they wear very quickly. Your far better off for your application I think with the green box clutch.

As for part numbers sorry I haven't got any but know that both AP racing and OMP both do a paddle to suit the c1j. Mine is an AP 4 plate paddle.

Only reason I went for one was because I was planning on getting around the 220ft/lbs mark power wise and also doing full throttle launches at pod with slicks I think would see the green box clutch to a miserable demise.......
