Right well im having a burst of getting things done just now and have just organised a new bonnet to get painted, so how do you remove the bonnet stay without damaging it to put it on the new one, im especially worried about this as im getting a brand new grill painted at the same time and really don't want to damage it as it cost twice as much as the bonnet, the bonnet is a pattent part if anyone has any experience with this

The bonnet stay are still available from renault and very cheap - under a fiver last year when I bought one, you can also still buy all the clips and stuff.

Aren't the bonnet stay clips, that attach the stay itself to the bonnet riveted on though? I think this is the question being asked.

So how do you remove and replace the stay without damaging the bonnet?

Carefully drill out the rivet?

I guess so but how do you re-rivet afterwards, don't you need to come at it from either side when riveting?

I'm guessing there's a hole (and sufficient room) in the bonnet where the stay clip mounts to allow this kind of thing to work?
