my car is misfiring and is running lean on idel
I have changed the plugs, leads, dizzy and arm. rebuilt the carb and cleaned all the jets about 10 times
I'm getting a new tdc tomorrow because that'sthe only thing I haven't got new.
If it's not that what could it be?

Did it work fine after the rebuild or is this the first time you have run it. Could be a jet blocked even tho you have cleaned them you could have disturbed some crap and it coming thru the carb. Have you checked there is fuel getting to the carb. Whats it like when you rev it. When was the fuel filter changed? Maybe just check everything went back together on the carb and is were its suppose to be.

The reason why I changed everything was because of the miss fire.
It was better at idle when I first started it but the misfire was still there at 3k revs.
and now it's back to how it was before I changed everything.
could a worn tdc cause these symptoms.
or a aei?

Not that clued up when it comes to the aei or tdc lead has the tdc lead touched the turbo and melted the wires seen that a few times does the aei look in good condition has it got its cover on as it could of got water damage try cleaning up all the electrical connections .grounds especially clean the metal nice and shiny then you have a good ground there is one at the side of the aei. When you say its lean at idle are you checking it with a afr gauge have you tried the mixture screw to get a good idle.

the aei has got a cover on but ill give that a good clean aswell.
i set the Idel up after i rebuilt my carb and it was sitting around 14.2
and now it's going between 14-16 like it's got a air leak but I have sprayed all round the carb and manifold and checked all the pipes and I can't find one.
If it's not my tdc or aei then ill chuck a match in it

No water loss,
good compression
and no smoke Jonathan

Did you change the carb base gaskets either side of the plastic spacer. Throttle bar seals the green ones.possibly a crack in the carb body. Just guessing at things to try. Is there any way you can borrow a good working carb to try and rule out if its that or the problem lies some where else. Saves buying parts that may not be needed.

I spent a full day on the carb making sure it was right.

I have mark I took it to a mates garage and he said the compression was good

Do you know what the readings were? Was just thinking it could be tight tappet or signs of a burnt valve if you have done all the ignition side of the engine

i don't no the readings.
I'm going to have put the new tdc on tomorrow and clean the aei. and triple check that there is no air leaks.
