View Full Version : Silver E Reg 5 GT Turbo. 1 Careful Owner...

...For each year of its life!:D:wasntme:

Ok, this 5 has had a fair few owners in its time (24) but the last 3 or 4 have definitely been members on here, the RTOC. Hopefully they will see this post and comment on its excellent condition despite it needing to walk around with a mattress on its back!

I will be honest and state that there is not a lot that I do know about this 5 but it really is in very good condition. It is not a mint car ready for shows but it is a very honest example. I was looking for a 5 that I did not need to spend hours and hours working on, I just wanted to drive one and enjoy the boost! This 5 was perfect for me.

It was been fully resprayed a few years ago in it standard silver colour and if you look at the poll on here that was balloted, you will notice that this colour apprears to be the rarest. :agree: It has a full standard phase one body kit which has a high gloss finish. I personally think that this complements the car massively.

According to a member on here that has it previously to the next two members the engine was rebuilt around 3k miles ago to quite a performance spec. This included:-
New pistons
Liners
Oil pump
Reground ends and mains , crank etc
Piper 270 cam
New water pump
carb from cgb, recon,130 main 0.9 ac was swapped with another jet in the carb not sure which
T25 Turbo
Updated fuel pump
Uprated alternator,.
Side exit from K-Tec
Enlarged Turbo outlet
2.5" Downpipe
Uprated green clutch fitted.
Soft Pedal Conversion
The alarm is a toad ai606

I have recently installed a new interior, Mk1 Clio front seats and raider rear seats which does have a tear in it. I have also installed some pioneer front speakers along with a parcel shelf which has some 9x6 cut into them.

I bought this car in August 2013 and I have covered about 300 miles during this time. This 5 is running at 17psi and it really has not missed a beat for me. (I know I have not driven it much) I assume that with a T25, 17psi and a 270 cam, it is probably running around 170bhp... It starts first time every time and I have always warmed it up and cooled it down properly. There is no smoke from the turbo and it really does run well. There is no hesitation at all. The idol is probably a little high at 1k but for me thats normal!

I changed the oil and filter only 200 or so miles ago with all the receipts to prove the purchases.

I have not really go a lot of paper work for this car, just a few only MOT's and V5 etc but anyone who comes to view this car will see that it has been very well looked after during its time by its many notches it its bedpost. There may be a few little dings in the body work but nothing that really stands out.

It is MOT'ed until April 2014 and Taxed until Feb 2014 (Or there abouts) I am looking for £2000 no offers. I am not desperate to sell or anything like that, the wife want to extend our house into and on top of the garage which means that the 5 will lose its home. Leaving it outside facing the elements is just cruel so it really could do with a new home. I am located in Ashford, Kent and Viewings can be arranged at any time. I am not advertising elsewhere as I believe/would like this car to remain in this club.

If you have any questions then please ask and please give me an email address if you would like to see pictures. This site will not let me upload any to it!

Thank you for that. :agree: much appreciated.

That's exactly how it looks externally along with the engine bay.

Interior is now complete and described as per advert.

Pervert...

Ha ha! Not perverted but if someone is willing to wear a pair of speedos while travelling a big distance to buy a car then you have got to cut them some sort of deal... Then again should I add on £100 as its not really a sight I would wish to see!?

Hmmm looks like this will have to go on eBay. Shame really as I personally would have been a lot happier to sell for a very good price on here to a member who would look after it.

Rob, good luck with this.

I noticed you said in one of your answers to questions at the bottom that the seats are standard but with a retrim in Clio Mk1 material.

I don't know who told you that but those seats in the pic are not GTTs seats, they ARE Clio seats. :agree:

Rob1980
10-03-2014, 14:11
Really?? They look exactly the same as the GTT seats that I have here...

Thanks for the heads up though. :agree:

Hi Rob,

The pic from your ad:
http://i.ebayimg.com/t/Renault-5-GT-Turbo-RTOC-History-/00/s/MTYwMFgxMjAw/z/6DoAAOxy0bRTE3Cg/$_12.JPG

GTT seats:
http://i1227.photobucket.com/albums/ee425/cass691/renault2008.jpg

They are quite significantly different in their superficial design, i.e. the shape/size of the side/lower bolsters, seating width, headrests etc. Maybe they are sat on GTT subframes??

There's nothing wrong with having Clio seats in the car btw, I think they look good. :agree:

Rob1980
10-03-2014, 14:57
That's quite conclusive!! Oh dear, I'm probably going to get a come back now for false advertising!

It's no dramas though really. Maybe just add a new bit of info at the bottom of the ad just to correct it perhaps? And get back in touch with the person who asked the question. If they know their stuff they will now think that you don't and that could put them off :agree:

Bl00dy ebay is full of time wasters! The guy who won the car for in my opinion an absolute bargain price (Looking at what others are going for on ebay) is refusing to purchase the car as Ashford is too far away for him!

The location was clearly advertise so why the hell did he bid?? What a joke!

Anyway, this car is still available. :agree:

With all that said, they're really cool seats. Anyone know what they're from?

Edit: read trev's post they're clio seats. Really do like them.

No mate, I have not bothered.

Currently we have got 3 cars. The 5 is stored in the garage and our 2 daily cars are on the drive. As I really do not want to sell the 5 I am trying to talk the wife into selling our Mini Cooper D which I currently use every day to go to work.

I will then use the 5 every day to get to work as it is only a 7 minute drive (and no, there is no way I will ride my bike!)

The 5 will need to be kept on the drive open to the weather but I will get my money worth out of it before it rots! Realiablity is not a problem either as I can realistically walk to work if needed.

I know that this may be considered sacrilege and the 5 should be preserved but why not just enjoy it until it ceases to stop working?? Again something else which may cause a stir is the fact that I could break it if the shell rots to retreive any monies it owes me. At least this will help others to keep theirs going. :agree:

I don't want too but my significant other wants an extension therefore the 5 home will be lost.

Personally I think you should put the price up, well worth more. :agree: Only thing I think putting people off are the wheel as silly as that may sound. Get the same thing when selling houses, some one doesn't like the furniture so pass it off.

I personally don't mind the wheels to be honest. I have got 4 standard 13" wheels here without tyres... Maybe I should throw them in with the sale!

When I look around at what is currently advertised and for how much, this is an absolute steal! I'm not looking to make anything on it though, I'm a fair guy.

First post!

Hi. I might be interested too. But I have a couple of questions.

Is it definitely a GTT? It's just that it's missing the rear spoiler and wiper. And the kit is Phase 1 also.

Anyone know the history of the car? If it's been a club car then surely someone must know?

Yes Mate it is definetly a GTT, Like most of them around it has been modified which is why it does not have a spoiler or rear wiper. This also goes for the Phase 1 kit that has been fitted. This was stated in my advert. :agree:

There are members on here who know the car, some of them have already commented on this thread.:coffee:

It was owned by a friend of mine. Like most GT turbo cars it has been modified to suit the owners taste.

Definitely a GT Turbo- A Simple Reg check will tell you that chap.

Good car too!

I had to put it through its MOT first, getting a free slot took a while!

It passed with only 1 advisory which was a worn tyre. It really is a good solid example. :agree:
