Hi Folks,

I'm trying to source a replacement Valeo 810926 radiator. Seems like the UK
supply is now exhausted. There are plenty available in France with no source
I have found through google.fr being out of stock. Getting one of these outfits
to send one to the UK however, is quite another matter

So, the only source that I have come up with is RockAuto who can supply one
for about £175 delivered. Is that about the going rate?

Has anyone bought one of the all aluminium Chinese ones, and if so, which
one and how do you rate it? Also, does having a thicker rad place more stress
on the water pump?

Regards,
Steve

R5 1.6 diesel rad, slight modification required to fit way under half the price of a standard rad (if you can find one)

Dre - Make sure you do your homework. Quite a few people have been selling rads on ebay that don't have the oil cooler built in and therefore are not much good if you are running a standard setup.

That was my purchase. The rad was not one with the built in oil cooler. So Billy
took it back and refunded me. He's just up the road from me...

This company looks promising (http://www.aaronradiator.co.uk/products/Radiator_Renault_5_Mk2_86_91_1_4_GT_Turbo_2RT151-8064-1302.html)... I'll 'phone them tomorrow and ask about "parentage".

Depends on numbers. I should be able to sort one out for £160 but maybe group together should be able to lower that.

Mr.Auto.com have stock in France at about £136 (delivered) - I've contacted
their British site, bearing in mind that parts I've bought from them have
mostly come from France, to see whether they're able to obtain one for me.

If there's the possibility of multiple purchases, that might persuade them.

I'm also looking into the posibilities around recores. Apparently, the claim is
that these can be better performers than the originals...

Steve

Well, I spoke to Gavin at Aaron (very helpful guy!) and he has two in stock. Both
with oil coolers and are brand new but in copper. One has a plastic side tank, the
other is all copper. He's happy to sell them at £110+vat delivered.
Mention RTOC if you phone him.

I've also made him aware that there is a demand for ally rads...

Steve

Wouldn't trust the copper rads at all, they split very easily at the joins. Radiator recons might be worthwhile but they will be over the £150 mark to do and might as well then buy new. Just taken a look at Valeo, they say they only have 2 left in stock :crap:

Yeah my coil man said he'd not even bother- he'd be more expensive than new ones. :dearme:

I did run a copper core rad on my raider, it came with it fitted in about '99 then I replaced it in 2009 with a nearly new Valeo I was given when a mate broke his car. I bought the car in 2003 and never had any issue with the copper core rad, I did sell it on in about 2009/10 though. :coffee:

I wonder if the system only checks a local warehouse for stock, as last time I ordered it took about 3 months to get 10 into stock where they had to get them from all over the place.

The Rover 75 V6 laminar oil cooler works well in the rad top hose with the diesel rad;)
