after a trip to renault today to get some bits so i can get round to fitting my new cam i have been told that the 19mm followers are no longer available and that only the 19.2 can be got hold off. i have had a read of old post but can not find the info i need. my main questions are

1 do you need to fit new followers to a new cam. (285 from blank) and will it damage it if i dont
2 is there any where else you can get some from or a alternative.
3 any disadvantages to getting the old ones reconditioned if they are not that bad.
4 if the 19.2 ones are over size what work is needed to get them to fit.

thanks

1 ideally u do need new followers......but u can resurface them yourself using fine grade emery paper and a flat surface
2 I don't think there's any alternative:confused:
3 you would have to bring the stripped block to a machine shop to get the old holes reamed/setup ect

I got a set of followers off Mike, they had been checked by his machine shop he uses to ensure they were useable, the ones that came out of my lump had some wear marks on them so I wasn't to happy with them. The ones from Mike were like new :agree:

All depends on how the lump has been looked after all it's life.

The price new is quite frankly a joke:rolleyes:
