Having bought a set of new wheels for my Dci it's time for tyres too.

The marks/types i'm particularly curious about are:
Continental sport contact 2
Pirelli p zero nero
Yokohama s.drive

I have had toyo t1-r's in the past and while they stick like mad in the dry they suck in wet and wear realy fast, i've experience with the pirelli's too which i realy like but being the most expensive out of all of them i'm wondering if anyone has experience with these tyres?

Back to back would be even better ofcourse!

Any thoughts would be appreciated!

Without trying to hijack this thread, are there any track day tyres available in 16"? I know 195/40/16 is quite a unique size, but maybe in 195/45/16 or even 205/40/16?

Don't get me wrong, I know that if you are going to track your car you are best thinking about unsprung weight and handling, then 13" and 15" are the way to go, but I'm planning my widetrack conversion and 16s look sooo much better in the MC Racing MAXI Kit. :D

Afaik 205/45/16 is the smallest available as semi slicks, don't know if you can fit them with the maxi kit?

Years ago I used to run 195/40/16 sport contact 2's on my raider, quite frankly the overall grip with them was amazing, on your long sweeping high speed bends I haven't had anything grip better before or since:cool:

Even in the wet they performed well, at the time nearly 9 years ago they were £100 a corner and the front tyres used to last me 3/4 months maximum. The guys at the tyre shop used to laugh at me when I turned up.

I can't compare brands however as I didn't try any others, I stopped using 16's after a rather nasty incident with a telegraph pole(it was always going to happen sooner or later) I completely mullered the rims. Been on 15's ever since.

I think this confirms my thoughts, everywhere i read they seem to be great but wear like crazy!
They're still €100 a corner atm

Continentals would be my choice also. toyo & yoko's wear to fast & I always found pirelli very hard & always felt a bit sketchy in the wet.
I 'think' I used uniroyal rainsports as well once, but they may have been 195/45/16. found those very good also.
