I've got my eye on a set of mint Clio Williams leather seats, I know it's been done but I can't find any info anywhere regarding the fitting of the subframes etc.

Can anyone give me some pointers ?

Cheers

I fitted valver leather seats into my 5 a few years back and I kept the clio frames but you will need to make up some decent support brackets to weld onto the exhaust tunnel (inside car) so you can bolt and secure the seats properly. On the clio they screw into the exhaust tunnel which is wider. On the 5 you will need to make your own.

These are mine fitted.

I even in the end fitted a renault 19 16v black carpet (needed modifiying for the rear but other than that good fit and the seats holes aligned up aswell.

:agree:basically it will be a pain in the arse bolting them in once brackets done if you want to keep it tidy, you will also note when fitting that the clio mounts to the outer holes which are on the 5 just hidden by carpet I just cut a couple of slit's in my gtt catper to do this but the r19 carpet covered it you could even use a clio carpet matey and cut it to fit:agree: clio carpets are cheap as

I got them seats off James, I've welded a bit of angle onto the exhaust tunnel and used a bit of square tube on the other side, it needs a bit of flat bar as a packer under the inner one as well or you could just weld it on properly

Cheers for the input guys, Jeff, they look spot on :)

Doesn't look like it'll take too much work, the rear is probably the the hardest bracket to make.
What did you do for your rears James ?
Also the seats look a lot wider than a 5 seat on the pics, is this the case or are they just mounted closer ?

Cheers

Rears are a straight fit no modifications required at all, all I needed was the clio securing bolts that the seat clicks on to as different to the 5 gtt version.

The seats are slightly wider, much more sturdier and so comfy :agree: i went for the dark grey instead of black as I thought it suited the 5 interior much better than the black ones:agree:

you didn't tell me this James!

I could have saved the old metal speaker brackets I used.:D

no bother, I was very happy with the out come of my custom brackets :)

note to self, should of just looked at the seats in the back of the girlfriends clio :dearme:
