Can anyone recommend any cleaning products I can apply to my engine bay to help remove 20+ years of dirt, oil and grime? I was thinking of applying a product, leaving it to soak for 20 mins then jet wash away...

ive always found the best way , is engine out , no way to clean a thing whist engine is there .

Engine out best way iv always done.. Used thinners on the thick gunk/oil clean all up then keep on top of it once its all back in :agree:

I have just been through the entire Gunk range on my engine and gearbox and it is all completely useless.

I saw this Muc Off in Tesco so got a can to try, in combination with a small stiff brush it will dislodge and disolve all the grease and grime and can then be washed off with a water hose jet or pressure wash. Its a aerosol can so has a bit of pressure behind it for penetrating the grime as well.

All purpose cleaner and a variety of brushes and cloths.
Make sure the engine is cold and cling film up any exposed electrics.
Spray the cleaner on and allow to dwell. Agitate with your brushes and either rinse lightly or wipe away.
I always dress the plastics and rubbers with 303 Aerospace to leave them looking nice and fresh and protected.
