There has been a lot of talk on the boards lately. But within certain threads it's been hard to ascertain what people actually want so now's your chance. The committee want a list of things that you want changed. But in this thread there's to be no arguing or chit chat, anything like that will be moved. Just list what you would like to change and leave it with us.
With thanks,
The Committee

In the future, as the cars get older and parts become less available than they already are, could the club possibly start directing it's financial muscle toward the preservation of the cars by sourcing or even producing parts? These can then be sold on to members.

This may mean that less money is spent on expensive annual events. However, surely the day is not far away whereby preserving the cars is more important than racing around tracks?

I know there are many members who love track days, and this is by no means a dig at them. Just my views on saving the cars into the future.

For example, when I first joined the RTOC last year I personally was expecting to find a club shop that was the first place you would turn for a part.

Chris , please feel free to move this :

Are there any financials for outgoings and income on National days so that they is evidence they are costing the club ?

Mammoth task though

We tried this on 21toc.

It wasnt too difficult. Created a new forum ( not literally , vbulletin boards are known as catergories for descriptions like SALES , and forum for sections you can post in like CARS FOR SALE , PARTS FOR SALE )

Moderation was turned on for the board so that them that can , did and approved the post.

A template was setup consisting of things like

Numberplate
Registered
Colour
Mods
Scrapped/Stolen/Other.

Members filled in the details and we kept a small archive of the cars. Made it easier to trace when NewLad came in and said does anyone know about X Y or Z car.

I've just had a look through those files and it appears that they make the points I made above invalid. Therefore, I retract my comments as it shows that these type of events do not cost the club money.

However, is there still anyway the club can be involved in the future production of obsolete parts?

We have been trying for a while.

Have a look in the thread I created the other day relating to what's discussed on the committee boards.

We sent a phase 2 grill away to Ireland to be reproduced. Unfortunately the moulds kept braking so that has been shelved for a while but other things will come up :agree:

A decent membership pack, can we have some metal RTOC fobs made ? Window stickers, are they still available ? Tax disc holder is OK but it doesn't get seen unless you are in the car, so no free advertising :)

We need a Senior area rep & a list of roles that need to be filled.

Better communication from the committee.

Parts in the shop would be nice, but then the club has to fork out money on parts that might not get used, & the shop keeper has to store them somewhere... plus Mike can supply most, if not all parts. So maybe that is a non starter.

Do we still have a page with all the places that do discount for members ? Are they all still valid ?

Dawno back ?? :agree:

Sort out the 'three amigo's' rubbish. Ban them or let them have full access again.

if a senior area rep is needed then that could be sorted with communication from the committee, a post saying the role needs to be filled and what is expected of someone in that position. Id put my self forward with a clear description of whats needed, and i think many would if its a known thing?

A way of showing if pm's have been read?
Helpful generally and also in buyer/seller disputes.

You can request a 'read receipt' but a tick next to the sent message would be better IMO.

I have so far put 8 new items in the shop and gradually increasing them. But like said storage will always be a problem, plus not trying to step on Mikes toes with putting items in place. Only reason those two OE parts are in there is because I got them cheap off eBay which I will continue searching for parts like that.

Plus they are only small and hopefully get purchased quickly through the shop. There is a post on items which people would like in the shop which I am gradually adding as well as and when I see them, or see a post which people are asking for.
