i seem to be having a running prob maybe someone can help me out ? one min tick over drops and wants to cut out and seems boost loss...then ticks over to much and seems to boost fine ? ive checked a few pipes but they seem ok

Hi Kev, so on idle its dropping to say 5-800rpm and taking ages to come on boost then over-correcting itself and over revving a small amount where it should realistically be?

What are you AFRs?

yh thats sounds about right it more or less can cut out as well afrs in 4th gear flat out 12.9 with all stock jets apart from 2nd stage drilled to 1.3mm running 15psi it only seems to have happend after drilling 2nd stage from 1.2 to 1.3 ? i was thinking aei ?

Swarf? or one way valve on the back of the inlet manifold?

Swarf is the polite term for ****e in your carb.If you have drilled your 2nd stage and it only started doing it after this then that will be your problem.

Yeah, id take the carb apart and check for any swarf, like Jonny said check the 1 way valve is working. Sticky float?

ive had the carb apart and cleaned it with carb cleaner drilled 2nd stage from 1.2 to 1.3 but now seems to be playing up ? also its always hard to start every morning ?

What are your oil pressure readings from cold and on idle?

Is it breathing a bit heavier than usual? Oil in the catchtank etc? Mine was fine on afrs but id cracked a piston or 2 AND had a bit of ring failure. I found that out after messing witht the carb (too much boost not enough fuel) then experiencing the start of the symptoms your getting.

More than likely its carb related mate as casper has said, diagnosis process can take you many places sorry to scare you!

i would point it to the carb myself from what ive read cos thats all really ive been messing with it seems at times it runs great and boosts really good then runs crap im abit lost as to what to do for the best its been a long time since ive played with a 5 and things seem to have changed alot over the years

right still having issues seems like one day she runs ok and idles ok then next day runs crap and cuts out ??? i can run around then turn engine off for a few mins then seems fine but then starts to cut out again im really baffled by this can anyone please help me out here thanks

no ive not got a spare to try mate ive also lost boost from 15 psi to 9 psi ?

been running around in car for the past couple of days now and ive noticed when the cutting out starts i turn ignition on and off a few times and it seems to correct its self ? are we talking aei unit you think seems to do it when car warms up ?
