help! as above really. yesterday they were fine. but today i have
13.5ish idle
10.4 ish (even seen 9.8 at one point) on boost.
12.5 ish cruising
what the fudge is going on. i haven't done anything.
only thing that has happened was Monday i went through a massive puddle and some nob came the other way (fast!) and caused a wave that engulfed my car causing it to shut down. air filter was soaked so dried it out and its been fine until today.
any ideas???

carb freeze??
is there chance water has got into the electrics or into the dizzy if the puddle was that deep. what condition are the plug leads. you might find the water has made a bad connection worse. but hopfully might just need a good drying out in a warm garage.

no i think it was carb freeze in the end. i spoke to a few guys on the fb page and they all said the same thing, and they suggested i warm the car up more on cold mornings. well this morning was warmer anyway and i did warm car up more and hay presto all back to normal. happy man.
I would just jump in and drive it mate. No point in letting it warm up on drive, waste of fuel

somethings not rite. my AFRs are still all over the place. and today the car was running lumpy as buggery at low revs.
i have done nothing to the car since getting it. im going to take the carb off and get a carb overhaul kit as soon as i can.
apparently the carb has. .8 1st stage. 1.25 2nd stage. and a 1.0 air correcter. as i said before though everything was fine untill i drove through that bloody puddle. i must have done over 300 miles with no issues at all.
any other ideas guys. i cant afford to kill the car as i don't have any other mode of transport to work. :scared:

mine seems to have gone like this does it cut out on idle are you getting pops and bangs from exhaust i carnt seem to find the prob ?

it dose cut out when you start it if you don't keep ur foot on the gas. i even put the revs up a bit with the idle screw and it still dies. but then once warmed up its ok. but then the afrs are everywhere.

mines a pain in the back side to strat in the mornings it seems to go better with not much choke it seems like ive got a vac leek but carnt seem to find anything not sure if anyone has any ides ?
sorry to see its not sorted.
thats why i was thinking it was electrical. connector of death is low down and other electrical componets and connections are at the front so big puddle with a noob coming the other way at speed = water in the bay (possiblly salty water if the roads had been gritted around the same time which is a better conductor than water alone).
as the car cut out at the point where you went through the puddle points to bad connection or plug leads more than a problem with the carb. carb freeze will normally clear and things go back to how they were.

thanks royz. have you got a picture of the electrical connector of death? is it the one down by the passenger cross member area? what do people do to make this water proof?

It's the white connector on the passenger side. Mine is attached to the inner wing.
I believe some people take theirs away and just put in new bullet connectors or solder the ends directly together then heat shrink.
I have given mine and good clean and a bit of wd40 which has worked.
Another useless tip- don't drive ya 5 in the wet lol :cartman:

ha ha ha, ur rite usless tip. mine is my day to day car. need it for work. so id rather modifie things so stupid things like water and cold dont affect it.
thanks for the other tips though. :agree:
If its running rough look at the ignition components. Leads and dizzy cap might be shot.

hay brigsy. its more of an intermittent problem. so don't think its the leads or anything like that. but today i have moved my air filter to behind the pass light and it seems better. the air filter was damp when i took it of. it has to be something to do with the density of the crappy foam filter.
