just in case anyone is interested in this car or biding on it. be prepared to spend lots of time and money.

just went to look at it today. what doesn't show in the pics;

engine bay has been painted with black hammerite!
the choke has been removed.
battery is dead.
door cards are bits of board that have been hammerited and so has bit of the dash.
key has snapped and has a push button start that didn't work.
electric window switches dont work.

apart from that its lovely

just thought id share just in case as there are lots of bids on it.
imoa its worth about 900 quid.

i won the auction on this last week … and casually put the pic up on facebook …. to see of anyone knew the car..

it got real bad views on it …so rang the bloke said not coming to get it …he was not pleased since 2 people have now won the auction and cancelled …

but if you read the description he give on ebay and of u speak to him on the phone, he makes the car seem like a wicked little 5,

he was a tad pissed off on the phone lol :o

Tbf I would be pissed off to if you hadn't seen the car and pulled out aswell....

The car may have been mint, just somebody posting on a forum slagging it off in the hope it would put people off...

If your not serious don't bid, if your turn up to collect the car and it's a turd you walk away to then...

Lool indeed. I've been messed about a lot by folks on ebay bidding and winning on car auctions and then not turning up to honour their obligation.

I'd never buy a car on eBay without seeing it first....unless its mega dirt cheap!!

Personally I think you must be mad if you do otherwise.

But if you bid and win.....cough up!

i didn't put the post up to cause problems. and as i had seen the car i was hoping i could help someone out by not wasting anyone elses time bidding and winning then not wanting it.
as the guy didn't put a detailed description up about the car and that he didn't list things that imoa were a must! i thought id try and save someone wasting there time.
i drove for over an hour to see this car used the last of my fuel and all for noting because he lied.

i also spoke to the guy that won. just to warn him of the extra things wrong that i found.

what happened after that wasn't my doing. and i certainly was not slagging the car off. i just said it wasn't worth 1600 quid because of all the things that were not listed in the description.

and as for trying to put people off just so i could have it that's rubbish if you look at the dates and times i posted the first comment the add on ebay was still running and i had already driven to see the car first, i had the chance to buy the car before any of this and didn't. why do you think that was??
because i was telling the truth.

sorry for the rant just just hate trying to help people and u get comments like this.

I think you did the right thing if you have been to see the car and then put on here what you had seen then there's no problem. There's to many cars advertised as mint I have just read the for sale add again and it's obvious it's a heap and the bloke has no idea what he is talking about. But then there's the whole ebay side of things if you bid and you win then you should go to collect car if you get there and it's not as described then you don't hand over any money you just go home as annoying as that is being as you have wasted time and money on fuel that's the chance you take when bidding on a car you haven't seen. What pen fold wrote above isn't a dig at you ( I think ) he is just getting the point across that the winner of the ad should of at least gone to get the car and made up his own mind and as said if not as described just walk away:)

True this happened to me once. Saw a 5 monaco auto advertised on ebay in london. One owner and apparently just 7000, yup seven k. Drove a 500 mile round trip only to find a rusty engine bay, gearbox fault and seats that looked like they had done 107,000. Good job he wanted cash and i hadnt paypalld him....lol

Gutted told him i was reporting him to the police and drove back. Someone else bought it and was advertising it again with 8k miles. Sent him a msg and told him the history of the car.

agreed. if you bid and win you pay up unless its not as described.
i was just trying to save people from wasting time and fuel. :sad2:

Yeh I wasn't having a dig, you did a good and honourable thing....

The guy who won't should have seen the car and then told the guy why he didn't want it...

Must of covered 100's of wasted miles viewing cars that just aren't described truly,, why can't people just be honest from the start, I couldn't do it to someone!

i understand that it may have been time wasting or even piss taking on my behalf..

if your going to sell a vehicle, do not dress it up as lamb if its mutton,

FOR EXAMPLE: now, ive travelled to manchester to view a 5, the bloke on the phone stated that we would not be disapointed and the car was a good runner and in good condition overall. that 1 of many few examples...

he forgot to state that the f**king thing was damp throughout the inside of car.

another wasted 500 miles and my time ..

so yes i bidded on this car, and then didnt follow through, but when i cancelled over the phone to the dealer i said for him to tell me how much the ebay fee and i would of covered it, and that is gospal truth.

with excitement i put pictures of the 5 on facebook and withing hours many people were stating issue that the the dealer didnt.

put a summary on this, i will no longer look at motors over ebay,

i would have covered his ebay fees regardless of price

but will he have covered my petrol costs when i would have gone to get the car and it werent how he stated??

dno about that myself :crap:

Smithy, nobody is having a go at you for anything you've said.

Let's be clear here. There are two distinct problems with Ebay. Crooked sellers and time-wasting bidders.

When there is a crooked seller and a legitimate buyer, it absolutely stinks.
When there is a genuine seller and a time-wasting bidder, it absolutely stinks.
When both are in attendance, that's called wasting everybody else's time, which also stinks.

Oggie, I understand your predicament. The buyer was a right chancer. However having decided not to go and view the car first, you still bid and won the auction. I think it was the laughing about not going through with the purchase that was the thing that caused offence here though tbh.

That car looked shady from the pics and description. It was obvious it either needed looking at up front or dismissing.
