View Full Version : Carb cleaning
Afternoon all.Can anyone recommend a solution i can soak my carb in to clean it up a bit?I was thinking of white vinigar but am unsure this will be ok.
Yep, or malt vinegar, or lemon juice.
Houston we have a problem.I tried the carb top in this solution and its turned black. Is my only option now to blast it.
Can't say I've ever seen any carbs, and I've done plenty, turn black after dipping them in vinegar or lemon juice.
You sure it was vinegar? :D

Must have been the baking soda Mart.
Any ideas how to get it back to its former glory?Wasnt even that dirty.
:D
You could try dishwashing it.
Given the carb's magnesium composite, you have to be a bit careful how long you leave it in 'acidic' fluid.
If it's turned black, perhaps it's been left too long? Does it look porous?

It does look a little porous.Scrubbing with vinegar is getting it off slowly.I might just get it soda blasted or source another.:ashamed:
Sounds like it's been enjoying the acid for too long mate :crap:
