I've found a cracked rocker bridge in my engine, got a replacement bridge on the way, can I just undo the two end head bolts, remove the clip and slide the bridge off, slide new one on and torque up the head bolts again or do I need to undo/tighten all the bolts in order etc?

:agree:
Seen this loads of times in the past. Might get away with just removing the end head bolts suck it and see.

Shouldn't they have washers on them bolts?

I didn't think the end 4 needed washers... If someone corrects me, I have some work to do!

I'm not sure either, not having them may cause the cracking as the force is not spread as much?

No washers needed on the outer bolts.

although if a large washer was put on, then you *might* not have to change the whole rocker assembly.....

Spread the torque better when nipped down?

Washer spread the load/pressure of screw ,or it has been over tighten

as already said the end ones don't have washers - iv stripped a engine before and someone had fitted washers on all the headbolts - it had cracked both the end sections so I suspect the washers don't help at all

Thing is, is when people are using high tensile bolts they are torquing them up a lot more than standard, so maybe a washer is a better idea. I'm pretty sure i had them fitted in my old lump at the ends, I can't remember :D
