I was thinking of getting a one piece downpipe as theres one on ebay at the mo. Any body think these are any good? The only issue I got is its only a 2" bore and im running a ktec enlarged elbow and 2.5" pipe anyway . would I benefit in anyway. Running a t3/t28 turbo so im looking to get my lag down as much as poss.. are there any 2.5" ones out there any more?

you need a bms or big jim pipe.. i wouldn't part with my bms for less than £300 and i think most people expect £250 minimum, the big jims i dont know, there ok but think the bms is A-list

Indeed, the bms pipes seem to be better quality welds and the angle they sit at seems to put less pressure on the welds, seen a few big jim pipes crack at a weld, does depend obviously on the exhaust system being used and also how it's been fitted.

Making up or modifying the support bracket helps.

for me, the one piece 2" pipes on eBay are just engine bay bling, the 2.5" straight through pipes actually make a noticeable difference to spool up. At least it did in my case to the tune of 200rpm or so earlier for full boost.

The desirability of the bms pipes makes them expensive, I was on the look out for one for months and months and months, ended up paying 250 and getting it from a Croatian member:eek:

I've got one for sale.. It's been modified slightly due to me fitting a V band clap to it.

It's also got the lamda fitting to.

PM me

With regards to the BMS downpipe.......

Can anybody enlighten me where it originated from?

Was it Italy?

Second, does anybody have and would they be willing to let me borrow one,so I can measure it etc and start the ball rolling on getting these re-manufactured?

:agree:

Bms were made by Boris who used to be a member. Awesome bits of kit.

I have the big jim downpipe on the van. It does the job, i have cracked it around the flange though. Not sure if this is down to path to exhaust collision or flexing?

Thanks all,

Don't get excited, I'm not for one minute saying I can make a batch.........although that is obviously the point:D;)

But!!!

As with all things, if you have the correct information, and in this instance dimension/spec etc then there is no reason they cannot be manufactured.

It does however come down to quantity and the cost envolved in doing so!

So, if anyone has a BMS downpipe that they would be willing to let me examine and measure?
then I have the means to get a CAD drawing of it, so it can be sent to various companies to tender.

Scoff (Chris) on here: EFI parts is your man

AEM kit, most on here have them, me included - GREAT bit of kit - and with a little patience and common sense, easy to install.......only issue really is getting the bung welded to the downpipe but any engineering place could do it I would of thought and it'll cost peanuts I'm sure:agree:

Cheers Mark,

There is actually more work in them than I thought, so that obviously explains the price of them.....

Regardless, it's something I'll look into - May even consider buying one as a prototype perhaps:scratch: if no one has BMS laying about:D

That's what I have on my car one of the nuts to the turbo to do up is a bitch because of the welds. The breather pipe which screws in on the back bend still moved around when fully done up the hole is to big for the olive around the pipe. So I used some high temp sealent on the outside which done the job, apart from that it fits well feels strong no cracks on the welds had it on a few months now and it def flows better then the original 2 piece pipe

I have bought a few things from that seller in France and not been done on tax. I bought my DP from uk but it's the same one

Well definitely need one with a lamba sensor boss on it so might just give it a shot. Hopefully as u said it will flow better than my enlarged elbow 2.5" dp setup im on now. Its a big turbo and trying to get everything to try and get lag down. Side exit made alot of difference but think the bottle neck is that elbow. Where is scoff based as id like to see if he would set my carb up after I get the afr in and everything

Maybe that outlet is designed for a lambda rather than the OE breather connection??

I'm now in a position to buy one of these, will put an advert in the wanted section.

As above though, if anyone has one laying around and is willing to let me borrow it then I will get the ball rolling on trying to make a batch of them!

:agree:

I fear this may take time though, as quality is ultimately the deciding factor.........and of course good quality costs:(

Will post if/when I have anything to offer
