Hi all,

My driver side window has always been **** why is it so slow,
Does it need a new motor, cannot see why as it does go down fast.

Graviity is helping it go down.

I guess it's a combination of friction & old worn out motor??

One of mine is slow so im keen to hear peoples views on this??

presuming the window is aligned properly and the rubbers arnt to tight due to weathering ect check the contacts to the motor and make sure there good. if not its a new motor they were selling direct fitting ones on ebay a while back cheap enough

Hi,

All seems fine ,oiled everything loads of times ,check all the wires as well ,
So new motor then, might not bother with that,
As im thinking about getting some perpex windows anyway, might save me money and put it towards them instead,
Just hoped it would be an easy fix as it goes down so well..

you will struggle to get a replacement for a Turbo2, and on a T2 it will be the motor packing in, rather than all the probs you have with a Gtturbo, as they are so basic! plus you can drive a bus through the gaps between the window and seals

but if you can find one off a gordini, being that most T2's are Left hand drive, you end up with the good, not so used motor from the gordini's passenger side!

apart from that look on ebay as sometimes manual window winders from less mk1 5 models apear and that means no more motors!!!!! good that the motor's won't fail, bad that you have to do it yourself.

what are the chances that its not a turbo 2 and monkey boy has posted it in the wrong forum, even though it clearly states not gt turbo....:disagree:

Mine used to be like this, took out window, window mmotor and runner/ reg, cleaned all up and greased., worked aload of grease into the window reg plastic runner, i did this by taking the motor out the runner and putting grease in there while manually sliding the runner bit that the window bolts to up and down, she now goes up pretty much as quik as she goes down

if the motor is worn, you could try rubbing the commy and getting it shiney copper coloured again this will give it a bit of life and stop the brushes sparking as much.

there exposed to damp weather so id assume they get quite pitted causing reduced efficiency

assuming you have a good connection to your window motor you can remove the window regulator unbolt the motor from the regulator and remove from casing and clean up the brushes inside the motor as the above says they get covered in water/crap clean it up and b4 re fitting lubrcate the white plastic tube. also found when i refitted my motor back to my regulator i tested it on a bench wired it up using a 12v feed and made sure all the motor and regulator moved easy obviously lubricating as it went up or down worked a treat on my regulators :) hope this helps peeps
