its something i've always wondered.

ive just rescued an audi/vw (038 253 014G) kkk 1.9tdi 105hp turbo from work, is it actually worth anything? i think it was smoking and there is evidence of compessor blade bendage....

I can't remember the part number for them, they're a KP39 or BV39. if the blades are damaged it's not worth alot if anything atall... The vnt inside, if undamaged, is, as they're super rare.

bit of a hijack, but we've got a mint one from a mazda 6 (i think) here, its a VNT one, will it fit anything apart from a mazda which would make it viable to sell?

If it's brand new and unused, ebay could be good to you... Alternatively, that turbo is very rare and you'd still get offered a fair amount by a turbo company.

awesome. its done about 30k miles but is very very clean with no play, was removed from an engine that was changed under warranty and only changed because the engine came with a turbo bolted onto it. we've got a knackered one with a snapped shaft too if they are any good for spares

Snapped shafts are no good, they damage everything beyond repair. If the other one's got miles on it, you'd probably only pull in £60-£70 from a company, but may earn twice that on ebay...

mixed metal, about £10 per tonne at the moment. Was about £140 until the financial wizzkids realised that sub-prime meant worthless.

We were doing alright last year, ali was doing well, and I was told bronze was pulling in £5k a ton (we have quite alot of bronze by the end of the year from all the old bearings). ****ed things up now...
