View Full Version : replacing a single anti rol bar bush...
Ok ,
basically ive got a r5gtt
the inner passenger anti roll bar bush has 'slipped out' and was litrally danging on the arb.
They are purple poly ones that i fitted and were very very tight so not really sure how its come out.. I had a brief look and it appear to be a comlete pain in the arse to pull the clamp to and get a bolt through it.. any advice.. am i best to loose all of the arb clamps to give a bit of play?

Jack the car up, wheels off on axle stands. Remove clamps from outter anti roll bar bushes, loosen other inner off. Are they the correct inners? there are 3 variants of inner bushes, sound like powerflex if they are purple. Might be worth checking both and either re-fit or replace with a new set then you know they are right. I use a small 'g' clamp over the bottom of subframe and over clamp to enable sliding the bolt in enough to get the nut on. :)

Release the bracket, move ARB to the right place (at most all thats needed is a pry bar to pull the ARB down a bit), refit bracket over it. It should be that simple, if it's not the bush must be wrong. There should be grooves in the bush that locate in the bracket to stop it moving.

I used a small bottle jack with the car on axle stands to push the bracket in place and hold it there so the bolt would slilde through. If you can't get it to shut completely you end up with the bolt at an angle which might cross thread when tightening up.
