After the car starts (woo hoo btw ;) ) the starter motor is still engaged and you can hear its motor spinning (thankfully its not crunching the flywheel). To hear it, click here (http://s99.photobucket.com/user/spaaa/media/rtoc/VID_20130921_123154_zps59a29357.mp4.html)

It's because i cod'ed up the wiring last time i tried to get the car out of the garage (needed a new starter motor :sad2: ) - I was in a rush and just left it.

Now i'm looking at the wiring and i haven't got a clue what mistake i made. I think perhaps both of the big leads need to go to the right hand terminal instead of being on both terminals.

Would appreciate someone pointing me in the right direction rather than me trial and erroring it.

My time's run out working on it today, so i'll get it sorted tomorrow perhaps or one night this week.... Then it's just the exhaust to change, front wheel to release and mot!

Correct both large wires, one from the battery band one from the alternator go on the right hand terminal in the picture, secured with a 13mm nut. Make sure you orientate the wires so they sent touching the exhaust when tightened :)

Also make sure the thin white wire and wire from the alternator both pass through the hole in the gearbox casing, don't just pass them behind the starter motor, they will be too close to the exhaust.

Ok, so wiring the big orange lead to the right hand terminal starts spinning the starter as soon as the battery is connected.

I'll try again, wiring to the left hand terminal :(

yep that worked.

upper left terminal takes the big leads. the only thing that goes from the lower right hand terminal is the little piddly wire thats builtin to the starter motor itself.
