even though i hardly had problems with standard 1st class post .

So do most people, it's a very common mis-conception. If you're sending something through Royal Mail that's valuable, or something that you want to know has got there, then send it special delivery. They're kept separate from everything else, signed for by everyone who handles them, they're "trackable" at every stage of the journey, and they're insured, as well as being guaranteed to be delivered the next day.

NEVER send anything recorded delivery, it's a waste of money/time.

Is there any diff on colour of caps? Is the blue or brown higher rated for pressure?

I think blue is the GTT OE cap is rated at a higher pressure. The brown caps came on the N/A 5's. IIRC.

Blue is 23-ish psi, brown is a bit lower but I can't remember the quoted value.
