View Full Version : ive broken the Camparse engine

oppps during a warm up run engine thingy like you do when a car is stood for a while the Camparse engine went foopar .
on idle i noticed a slight tapping and after a few clear out revs i give it a bigun revvs like i normaly do . but this time on hitting high revs BBRRRRRRCLATTER CLATTTER
oppps i thought that dont sound right to me it sounded like a dropped valve, so i thought it's eather popped the collets out or snaped the top of the valve off, and on removing the rocker cover i found a strainge problem ....... a valve cap has split in half.... ive neaver seen one split so clean (i wounder if anyone else has had a valve cap split in half)
weard thing is it's an exhaust valve cap that has gone not an inlet. my exhaust valve seat up is totaly std with std springs, my inlets are twin springs and i was expecting to have one of the inlets go due to the twin valve springs

but hay ho neaver mind ive got an unskimmed head that just needs a valve guide and seat .

high ho high ho its off to work we go and build a realy good head :devil:more power :cool2::burnrubber:

well its worse than i first thought . took the head off yesterday and wow it a bloody total mess in there . exh valve on no1 cyl had dropped and broken it's head off totaly mashing up the piston and head . the linner has split in two places and there are bits of piston everywere . the head of the valve has punched a hole in the piston and has stuck itself permently into the piston. bits of piston have found there way into the exhaust side of the turbo , im not sure if that damaged , hope not .

It's going to have to be a total rebuild with new head and a set of pistons and liners.

so im looking for an engine or a set of pistons and liners any one got laying around ....cheep as pos :)

I can help with the liners mate, not brand new obviously but with a clean and hone I'm sure they will be fine :agree: Pistons too if you think you can remove and re-use an old set (I wanna keep a set of rods spare)

Will have a dig at my parents over the weekend and let you know what I have. Don't want any money for them either :)

brill Andy .just had a chat with romil he says he got some laying around. so thats a few i could grab. it's good to know ya friends look after ya :). my first thought was f### thats gonna cost alot to put right

i like to use pre streased parts lol like mike 48 used to sell at top dollar years ago

They are in Romils possession at the mo. think there's 8 pistons and rods to choose from, and liners too.

I think i've missed the boat here?? What's the score with the E7J Engine then? That's just a Clio 1.4 engine isn't it??? :scratch::scratch:
