can a cam be dialed in with engine in car or is it better to have it out allso does head need to be off.

For the sake of a few mores hrs whip the engine out save on oil leaks later :) trust me I know.. It's too bloody cramped in there I'm sure others would say otherwise but that's how I would do it if I had to again..

thought it might just wanted to save some time.
For me I found it hard work, turned the engine over loads of times and took loads of different measurements, once everything was set up solid, I did three readings then worked out the average, did that three times and then worked out the average from that and took that as the final figure of advance/retard.
Most definitely wouldn't want to do that with the lump in the car. :agree:

I'm a bit confused on this too, the cam is coming out of the b18 at the end of the month to be reprofiled, when I spoke to piper they said that there would be no need to dial it in as the timing would be them same? Surely it can't be as easy as one for one-ing and away you go.
